Terms of Service

Last updated

These terms cover your use of the QuickSnap website (quicksnaptool.com) and the QuickSnap desktop software. They are meant to be plain and short. By using either, you agree to them.

1. What these terms cover

“QuickSnap”, “we” and “us” mean the independent project that runs this website and publishes the software. “You” means the person using them. Together with the Privacy Policy and the Disclaimer, these terms are the whole agreement between us about the website and the software. If you do not agree, please do not use them.

2. The software

QuickSnap is currently a preview: unsigned, lightly tested, and likely to change. See the Disclaimer for what that means.

  • What you may do. You may download the preview builds from the links on this site or from our official releases page on GitHub, install them on devices you own or control, and use them for your own personal or internal business purposes.
  • What you may not do. You may not sell, rent, sublicense or publicly redistribute the software, present modified or repackaged copies as QuickSnap, or try to extract its source code or work around any limits in it, except where the law gives you that right regardless of this agreement.
  • Ownership. We keep all rights in the software, the QuickSnap name and logo, and the content of this website. These terms give you a right to use the software, not to own it.
  • Third-party components. The software includes open-source components that remain under their own licences.
  • Cost. The preview builds are currently available to download without charge. Pricing for later versions has not been announced, and nothing here promises that they will be free.

3. Your screenshots and your responsibilities

The screenshots you capture are yours, and the app keeps them on your computer; they never come to us. You are responsible for what you capture, save and share. In particular, you agree to:

  • capture and share only content you have the right to capture and share, and respect other people’s privacy, confidentiality and copyright;
  • not use QuickSnap to break the law or to harm, harass or deceive anyone;
  • check what is in an image before you share it, and use solid redaction, not blur or pixelate, for anything that must stay hidden (see our guide on hiding sensitive information).

4. Using the website

You may browse the site and link to it. Please do not interfere with it or try to gain unauthorised access, overload it with automated requests, or use it to distribute malware. Only the downloads linked from this site or from our official GitHub releases page are ours; files from anywhere else that claim to be QuickSnap are not, and we are not responsible for them.

5. Changes, suspension and ending

We may change, suspend or withdraw the website, a download or a feature at any time, and we may update these terms. The date at the top of this page shows the latest version, and continuing to use QuickSnap after a change means you accept it. You can stop at any time by uninstalling the software (on Windows: Settings, then Apps, then QuickSnap). We may end your permission to use the software if you break these terms.

6. No warranty and limits on liability

The software and the website are provided “as is” and “as available”, as explained in the Disclaimer. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from their use, including lost data, lost profits, or indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under the law that applies to you, such as for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

7. General

  • If any part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies.
  • If we do not enforce a term straight away, we have not given it up.
  • You may not transfer your rights under these terms to someone else without our agreement.
  • Your mandatory legal rights as a consumer, where you have them, are not affected.

8. Contact

Open an issue on our public issue tracker on GitHub. Issues there are visible to everyone, so please do not include private or personal details; say that you have a privacy request and we will arrange a better way to continue. More ways to get help are on the Contact page.
